Happy Chinese New Year for 2018!

Since we entered 2018, I have been meaning to write a blog post. Now we are already into February I thought I could make it a happy Chinese new year message.

Chinese New Year in Bali

So what have I been doing? For the first time in 5 years I went to Australia for Christmas and New Year with my family. We booked the tickets before Mount Agung started erupting, so I had to spend the last few months worrying if we would even be able to go. Fortunately, it was all smooth sailing and we had a great time.

The alert level of Mount Agung has now been lowered to level three, which is great news for all of those living in affected areas, but of course the danger is still not over. Not surprisingly, tourism is down and everyone on the island is feeling its affects.

As tragic as the loss of tourism has been for many Balinese, I think it is a great time to take stock of the situation and perhaps look how Bali and Balinese can diversify their income, so they are not so reliant on tourism.

I have a few posts planned but wanted to get a quick intro to the new year out of the way first. I would like to create a new design for the blog this year, but I have been having problems with the host I use for this site, so I need to transfer the site to another host before I can start this.

If anyone has ideas for potential blog posts please do not hesitate to get in touch.
