Do you remember the Bali based wedding planner that ran off with thousands of dollars of client’s money and left many couples stranded right before their big day?
Well it seems that she has finally had her day in court and has been fined and ordered to pay compensation to the affected people.
According to this article the company director Catherine Williams has to pay $20,000 to “some of the couples” and was fined $50,000 by the Joondalup Magistrates Court in Western Australia.
“She was disqualified from managing a corporation for five years and granted a spent conviction.”
The article says just five couples were creditors, but I have the feeling that many more were affected, including workers and suppliers in Bali who were not paid for services performed.
So according to the article, she had to pay a $50,000 fine and $75,000 in compensation. My original post said more than $200,000 had gone missing, so it does beg the question, what happened to the rest of the money?
Do you think she has been fairly punished?
